Brumos Racing Upholds Tradition in Signature Daytona Race

Jacksonville, FL: When most people think of the 4th of July, it brings to mind a day for relaxing with
family, seeing some fireworks, and celebrating in red, white and blue. As this 4th of July holiday brings
Brumos Racing back to their home track at Daytona International Speedway, they will be closely
following that very formula. Although the season’s tightest schedule for the one day event will make
relaxation an impossibility for Brumos’ drivers and crew, family will play a big role in the day’s
festivities. Brumos’ extended family will be out in full force as the 27th annual ‘Brumos Boosters
Brigade’ hits the road for Daytona in what is expected to be their largest turnout ever.
As this year’s event moves from its traditional evening time slot to the afternoon, the entire race will be
run before dark. Despite the daylight hours, fireworks are sure to be featured; however, they will likely
be taking place on the track rather than in the skies overhead, as competition is more heated this year
than ever before in Grand-Am’s history. This year’s season-opener at Daytona provided the closest
finish ever for that 24 hour race, and each of the races that followed has featured some of the most
thrilling racing action around.
Celebrations from Brumos’ last outing at Daytona are still fresh in everyone’s mind, and team Technical
Director Michael Colucci is looking forward to their return. “We are excited about getting back on track
at Daytona after our win there earlier this year, and hope to be able to deliver a repeat of that success.”
He went on to add, “We have done some extra testing and worked hard in preparation for this race, and
are confident that we will put on a great show for all of our supporters. Brumos has been part of the
Grand-Am family since the DP program began, and we are the only team that has competed in every
single race since.that beginning. Our friendship with Daytona International Speedway goes back for
many years, so that makes this race a truly a family and friends event, and a special one to us.”
Last year’s Brumos Porsche 250 proved to be an exciting one for their fans, as Brumos’ #59 car scored
a 4th place finish. Right behind them was the #58 car in 5th, following some of the most intense racing
action seen that season. Joao Barbosa, understandably, is eager to return to Daytona. “Last year we had
our season best finish at this race, and then made it to the podium the next time we came to Daytona for
the Rolex 24, so we have really done well there in the past,” he said. “We made some improvements for
the car the last couple of races that have worked well, so we will see if we can improve even more and
provide a another podium finish this time for all of our Brumos friends who are watching.”

All of the Brumos loyal would agree that a victory would be the perfect way to wrap up their Daytona
July 4th festivities. It is certainly hard to imagine a more appropriate ending to the Brumos Porsche 250
than seeing the Brumos white, red and blue colors back in Daytona’s Victory Lane again.
The Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway will take place on Saturday, July 4th. The
250 mile/2.5 hour race will start at 2:00 PM ET and is scheduled for broadcast live on SPEED TV.
